OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

Breakthrough Patent Enhances Players’ Safety and Performance

I am excited to publicly announce for the first time that Atavus Sports has been awarded a groundbreaking patent for our innovative Tackle Wheel software.

This revolutionary tool, designed to help coaches and players identify and analyze tackling situations, is a game-changer in the world of football analytics. Today, I wanted to discuss the specifics of the Tackle Wheel and how we built it to help your program win more each season while increasing player safety.

Tackle Wheel Design and Functionality

Tackle Wheel is designed to help coaches and players identify and analyze tackling situations, ultimately enhancing player safety and performance on the field.

The Tackle Wheel is a cutting-edge feature within our Atavus Analytics package that categorizes tackling situations into two main types: positive and negative.

A positive situation occurs when the ball carrier is in front of the defender, and the defender has an opportunity to knock them backwards. Conversely, a negative situation arises when the defender is parallel to the ball carrier or must chase them down.

By utilizing the Tackle Wheel, teams and coaches can accurately measure the frequency of these situations during games and practices.

This valuable data allows them to tailor their training sessions to focus on the most common scenarios, better preparing players for the challenges they will face on the field.

I’ve made it our every-day goal to make player safety our top priority for partners we serve. We understand the importance of proper tackling techniques and the need to minimize the risk of injury.

One of my favorite parts of writing this newsletter to you all is being able to share behind-the-scenes info and materials. It’s in that spirit, for my tackling fanatics out there, I leave you the Tackle Wheel Patent:

The inclusion of the Tackle Wheel in our Atavus Analytics package marks a significant step forward in the world of football analytics.

By harnessing the power of data and technology, we are empowering coaches to make informed decisions, optimize their training programs, and ultimately create a safer environment for their players.

We invite coaches and program directors to experience the benefits of the Tackle Wheel firsthand. Join us in this journey and see the difference the Tackle Wheel can make for your program.

SPOTTING CONCUSSIONS IN REAL TIME

What I’m blown away by this week…

I'm excited to share with you the latest cutting-edge development in football safety technology.

Researchers at Columbia University, led by neurologist James Noble and biomedical engineer Barclay Morrison, are working on a revolutionary new smart helmet called the NoMo that could help detect concussions the moment they occur.

The NoMo helmet is equipped with advanced EEG sensors, similar to those used to monitor brain activity in hospitals. But in a groundbreaking innovation, these sensors are built right into the helmet's padding.

When a player suffers a concussive hit, the sensors instantly detect the brain's response and alert coaches and medical staff on the sidelines via computer. No more second guessing whether a player needs to be pulled for evaluation - the NoMo takes the guesswork out and helps get concussed players immediate attention.

Having assisted as a consultant for both college and NFL teams, Dr. Noble has seen firsthand how difficult it can be to spot concussions from the sidelines. Players are often reluctant to speak up, and many concussion symptoms are subtle.

The NoMo aims to be a game-changer by providing an objective, medical diagnosis of brain injury mere seconds after impact. While still in development, NoMo prototypes were successfully tested in Columbia football practices last year.

As the NoMo is perfected, its potential reaches beyond the gridiron. Its concussion-detecting technology could be adapted for hockey, lacrosse, wrestling, soccer, basketball, and even military helmets.

By monitoring the brain's actual physiological response rather than relying on impact force, the NoMo strives to be the most reliable real-time concussion alert system to date.

At Atavus Sports, there is nothing we prioritize over player safety. We eagerly await further developments and applaud the work being done by Drs. Noble, Morrison, and their team.

The NoMo smart helmet exemplifies the kind of high-tech innovation that will help protect athletes of the future. We will continue to track and share these exciting developments.
